POLICE have today (Tuesday) named the victim who was killed in a road traffic collision on the A38 near Burnham-On-Sea on Saturday (September 24th). 27 year-old Alice Hicks from Weston-super-Mare was killed in a two-car collision which occurred in the village of Biddisham.

A BUSY route near Burnham-On-Sea has re-opened after a four vehicle accident earlier this evening (Friday, September 23rd). Four cars were damaged in a crash on the A370 near Lympsham at 6.45pm, which partially closed the road for over an hour, as pictured here.

Man rescued from stranded boat
A MAN was rescued after getting stranded on a small fishing boat in the River Axe estuary next to Brean Down last night (Thursday, September 22nd). The man alerted Coastguards when his small fishing boat ran aground on the muddy banks of the river estuary. Coastguards from Burnham and Weston were called.

Exclusive: A POPULAR seafront restaurant in Burnham-On-Sea is set to shut down next month when its owners retire after 28 years of serving up teas and meals. The Porthole opened on the North Esplanade in 1984 and has been visited by thousands of seafront visitors since.

VETERAN TV and radio comedian Jimmy Cricket will be performing in Brean next month. The popular Irish comedian, who has starred in several TV and radio series, will appear at Brean Leisure Park on Saturday October 8th. Jimmy was given his own TV series and also had a Radio 2 series.

A POWER cut left 450 homes in Highbridge without electricity on Wednesday evening (September 21st). Supplies went off at around 5pm and the cut lasted over an hour for some homes and businesses surrounding Market Street. Burnham fire brigade was also called to the town when fire alarms were set off.

A HIGHBRIDGE man has been convicted of possessing cannabis with the intent to supply. Luke Rovira, 25, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis. It comes after community intelligence led police to execute a drugs warrant in Highbridge Quay - the second in a year.
