New £6m Highbridge & Burnham Travelodge reveals opening date

Highbridge's new £6million Travelodge hotel is set to welcome its first guests this autumn.

The new hotel in Siger Drive, off Bennett Road, will formally open on November 5th, when the first bookings will be taken, it has been confirmed this week in a change to the plans for bookings to start in December.

To be called the 'Highbridge Burnham-On-Sea Travelodge', it will have 75 rooms, a bar, a cafe.

The hotel has been designed in the company’s latest contemporary design and all family, double and accessible rooms will feature king-size beds and modern facilities such as USB charging points.

As we reported here last week, the hotel is current recruiting 26 new staff across all positions.

The 'Highbridge Burnham-On-Sea Travelodge' is one of 11 hotels that the budget hotel chain is opening in the lead up to Christmas, collectively representing an investment of £79million and creating 260 new jobs in total.

The new sites are at East Grinstead, Gainsborough, Camborne Redruth, Chester, Solihull, York Monks Cross, Highbridge Burnham-On-Sea, Lincoln, Walsall, Ashford and Bury St Edmonds.

Craig Bonnar, Travelodge Chief Operating Officer said: "We are very excited to be opening our first Travelodge hotel in Highbridge. Right now our focus is to build a strong team to manage the hotel. Therefore we are looking for colleagues who are dedicated and passionate about delivering great service."

"We can teach the skills that they need and we are totally committed in developing our people. We operate a successful in-house management development programme, which has helped thousands of colleagues; climb the career ladder into management via an entry level position."

Travelodge describes the new hotel on its website: "Our Highbridge Burnham-On-Sea hotel is the perfect seaside location getaway, with sandy Burnham beach less than 4 miles away and plenty of other beaches nearby. Bust out those sunglasses and have a wander along Burnham seafront, and don’t miss the Burnham-On-Sea pier - an Edwardian beauty and the shortest in Britain."

"Within 3 minutes’ drive of the rail station and 2 minutes from the M5, connectivity is king at this hotel. You’re within easy reach of Cheddar Gorge and the stunning Mendip Hills AONB or you can jump on a train to Bristol and be at Temple Meads in under an hour."
