TESCO has promised a full investigation will take place after a shopper found a dead bird in a prepared salad he bought from the Burnham-On-Sea store earlier this week. Paul Streeter from Weare said his girlfriend became sick after the carcass of the bird was discovered in a baby leaf and rocket salad.

HOPES that the Olympic Flame would come through Burnham-On-Sea or Highbridge next year have been dashed with the unveiling of the official route this week. The Olympic torch is due to arrive in the UK from Greece on 18th May 2012 and visit Taunton.

BURNHAM-On-Sea beach has failed to meet European standards for water quality during Environment Agency testing over the summer months, it was revealed on Tuesday (November 8th). The beach at Burnham Jetty was one of only 11 out of 191 tested in the South West that failed to meet the standard.

A TOTAL of £11,298.86 was collected for charity during Monday night's Burnham-On-Sea Carnival - up almost £2,000 on last year. Andrew Bryant from Burnham Lions Club, who was among the collectors at the successful event, said the bigger crowd numbers were partly responsible for the amount collected.

Exclusive: THE start of Monday night's Burnham-On-Sea Carnival was delayed by 10 minutes after two illegally parked vehicles blocked the route of the procession and had to be towed away. The two cars were left in Victoria Street and the owners wandered off just before the start.

THE M5 motorway has re-opened in both directions this evening (Sunday, November 6th) following a two-day closure between junctions 24 at Bridgwater and 25 at Taunton after a serious accident on Friday night. Seven people were killed and 51 injured ion the accident.

DOZENS of Burnham-On-Sea residents took a step back in time when the town's Women's Institute held a successful Victorian Bazaar on Saturday (5th November). The popular event was held at Burnham Community Centre and raised £860 for the building's ongoing refurbishment.
DOZENS of Burnham-On-Sea residents took a step back in time when the town's Women's Institute held a successful Victorian Bazaar on Saturday (5th November). The popular event was held at Burnham Community Centre and raised £860 for the building's ongoing refurbishment.
