Burnham-On-Sea ‘Santa Paws’ campaign hailed a success

-

Dog lovers in Burnham-On-Sea have donated hundreds of gifts to an appeal campaign to help local stray and rescue dogs.

Sedgemoor District Council launched its first ‘Santa Paws’ appeal earlier this month, as we reported here.

The appeal has now closed for donations and has been hailed a great success.

Santa Paws organiser Fiona Dickson, one of Sedgemoor’s Dog Wardens, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We have been bowled over by the generosity of the public and the number of donations received for the appeal.”

“Hundreds of individual items such as toys, blankets, chews, bowls and leads, as well as filled shoeboxes, have been received across the three drop-off points.”

“I can’t wait to deliver all the items to the many stray and rescue dogs awaiting adoption.”

She continued: “The dogs who have received their goodies already have certainly had an extra wag of their tail.”

“We have some really lovely dogs that are in desperate need of a loving home and we would urge people fully committed to dog ownership to come and have a look after Christmas.”

Sedgemoor District Council also thanked the pet stores who collected donations during the appeal, which included Animal Fayre in Burnham-On-Sea’s Victoria Street.
