A clampdown on anti-social behaviour in Burnham-On-Sea has started this week with two new poster campaigns.
Burnham police have put up posters at several spots along The Esplanade, as pictured above, warning people that “urinating in a public place is an offence for which you can be arrested.”
And Sedgemoor District Council, in partnership with the police, has launched a new CrimeStoppers poster (pictured right) that will be distributed to local schools, colleges and other locations to deter graffiti artists.
“Graffiti is a crime and removing it can be costly and time-consuming,” explained Sedgemoor District Council spokeswoman Claire Faun.
“Removing graffiti this year has already cost Sedgemoor District Council £10,000, which includes buying specialist machinery to clean it off walls.”
