Santa joins Mayor to switch on Burnham-On-Sea’s 2005 Christmas lights!

Santa dropped in to help Burnham-On-Sea Mayor Eric Gill switch on the town’s Christmas lights, pictured above, on Saturday November 26th.

The lights switch-on was followed by a fire-eating street entertainment displayMr Gill signalled the start of the switch-on by ringing a handbell in a ceremony at the top of Burnham High Street.

With entertainment from jugglers, musicians and street entertainers (pictured right), plus carols and Christmas songs from local drama group Curtain Call (below), it was a lively start to the festive season.

The town’s streets have an extra dose of sparkle this year – as for the first time in over five years extra wall-mounted lights have been switched on along Victoria Street in addition to the 33 lights along Burnham’s High Street.
