Graffiti vandals have once again daubed messages along Burnham-On-Sea’s sea wall, prompting a big council clean-up operation.

Scores of messages have been scrawled along 20 metres of the wall at the southern end of the Esplanade, near to the town’s Sailing Club, angering both the Town Council and Sedgemoor District Council, who are left to clean up.

Town Clerk Eileen Shaw told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Wednesday (August 23rd) that the problem is a reoccurring one and that action would be taken shortly to remove the messages.

“It does annoy us. It seems to happen so frequently. We’ll have someone look at it during the next few days.”

One nearby resident – who asked not to be named – said: “It’s just senseless, cowardly vandalism.”

“The people doing this know they can’t be seen by CCTV cameras or police patrolling the seafront.”
