Woman cut free from vehicle by fire crews after accident

A woman was rushed to hospital after being cut free from her vehicle after a two-car accident on the A38, near Burnham-On-Sea.

The road was closed for one and a half hours on Tuesday night, December 6th, following the incident, which involved a VW Golf and a Ford Escort.

Fire appliances from Burnham and Weston were called to the scene at 11pm and had to use cutting machinery to pull the trapped woman from her vehicle.

“She was released by fire service personnel using road rescue equipment and conveyed to hospital by ambulance,” said a fire brigade spokesman.

A police spokesman told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The woman’s injuries are not thought to be life threatening or life changing.”

The A38 did not fully re-open until 12.30am on Wednesday morning, December 7th. The accident occurred north of the A38 motorway roundabout, near to the access road to the council depot.
