A Burnham-On-Sea fitness group has raised £120 for a local community group that helps local adults with autism and aspergers.

‘Go Socialise’ organiser Fay Donallen was presented with the funding by Burnham personal trainer Sonny Topham, who runs a program of fitness walks with the money raised goingh to local charities and charity groups.

A total of £120 has been handed to ‘Go Socialise’ at one of their regular meetings in Burnhan’s Ritz Social Club. They meet on the second and fourth Mondays of each month from 7pm – 9pm. Under 17 year old’s are welcome but must have a parent, case worker or carer with them.

Organiser Fay Donallen told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We have lots of activeness at each meeting, from quizzes and bingo to crafting.”

“Supporting parents, case workers and carers can take part but they do have to also pay a £1 subscription. We meet up in between groups. We have cooking sessions, bowling, cinema and walks.”

People are welcome from across the Burnham area and for more information call Fay on 07481 821725.

“Sonny collected £120 pounds – we are so grateful for the donation and would like to thank all the walkers. They have helped pay our rent on the room at the Ritz.”

Sonny added: “The main reasons I started the charity walking club was to raise money for lots of great causes, get people together of all ages and backgrounds, and to offer an opportunity for people to get fit and healthy outside once a week.”

“At the end of each month, it is so nice to see the positive impact we have had on whatever charity or good cause we have been raising money for. I am looking forward to continuing this initiative.”
