Burnham-On-Sea walkers raise over £1,000 for Children’s Hospice South West

-

A group of Burnham-On-Sea walkers has raised over £1,000 for charity by taking part in a fundraising walk.

A dozen walkers from Burnham-On-Sea took part in the 20-mile walk on Saturday (27th July) to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West.

The group from Burnham’s Ritz Social Club started at the square in Axbridge and then headed along the Strawberry Line to pick up the steep incline of Crook Peak.

“The terrain of Crook Peak can be very testing but all made it safely over and down the other side,” said Paul Hale, Ritz Social Club Manager, who also took part in the walk.

“From the other side, the walkers continued through Loxton towards Bleadon before taking a well-deserved break at the Queens Arms.”

“The afternoon session took them through Accommodation Road, picking up the new cycle path to Brean, and the final home stretch was the five-mile beach walk back to the Ritz Club in Burnham.”

Paul thanked everyone that took part and expects over £1,000 in sponsorship to come in during the next couple of weeks.

“There were varying degrees of age groups and fitness among the walkers, but they all successfully completed the challenge and did really well,” he added.
