Hundreds of mourners crowded into a Highbridge church on Wednesday (May 26th) for the funeral of well-known local farmer Arthur Duckett.
Burnham-On-Sea.com reported earlier this month how 80 year-old Arthur had died following a short spell in Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.
His coffin was taken to St John’s Church on a horse drawn carriage, as pictured above. Mourners included friends, family and local civic dignatiries.
Arthur shot to fame when one of his bullocks, called The Field Marshall, was officially named the biggest in the country at 3,682lb (1,670kg).
Arthur, who lived in Alstone on the outskirts of Highbridge, was also a licensed equine technician who travelled thousands of miles each year as part of his trade. He was a former Highbridge town councillor.
