Town centre restaurant shuts down in Burnham-On-Sea

-

A restaurant and cafe in the centre of Burnham-On-Sea has shut down after falling victim to a downturn in trade.

Crowdy’s Bistro in College Street closed after its owners, Sam and Steven Crowden, pulled the plug on the business.

The building’s owner, Chris Wood, told Burnham-On-Sea.com on Saturday: “The business closed due to poor trade and is now available to rent or lease.”

“This is a busy site for the right type of restaurant or cafe. There’s lots of potential given the unique outside eating facilities at the front and the space inside.”

The site was previously home to French’s cafe, which closed down in December 2008, when its owners also blamed poor trade.

Mr Wood added that the property is up for lease or rent at “good negotiable rates.”

Crowdy’s Bistro hit the headlines during 2009 by serving up Berrow nettles as a speciality on its menu.
