Burnham-On-Sea’s carnival float came third in its class at the annual Bridgwater Carnival on Friday night (November 7th).

Hillview Carnival Club’s ‘Jester’s Parade’, pictured here during Friday’s parade, suffered a few mechanical problems, but the club’s members were in “high spirits.”

“We had a great reception from the Bridgwater crowds,” Hillview Chairman Mark Bishop told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“To come third in a very tough class this year is a great achievement and everyone is in high spirits and now looking forward to competing in North Petherton carnival tonight and Burnham on Monday.”

“We did suffer a few mechanical problems and gremlins on the float, but we hope to get those fixed.”

The impressive 100ft-long float was built at the Bristol Bridge Inn in Highbridge at a cost of £14,000 and has 12,500 light bulbs. Click here for Burnham-On-Sea.com’s behind-the-scenes report on how it was built.
