Under its Musical Director Steve Sykes, Burnham and Highbridge Band entered the South West of England Entertainment Contest at Exmouth over the weekend.

The band was awarded the Harris Cup for highest-placed unregistered band and was also placed fourth overall, beating bands from the 4th and 3rd sections.

Tony Fricker, the band Chairman, said: “This was an amazing result. Truly amazing.”

Meanwhile, the band will be in action at Burnham’s Princess Theatre on Sunday 11th September at 7.45pm for its late summer concert. Tickets are priced at standard £7 and concessions £6. Call 01278 784464.
