A powerful electrical storm crackled and rumbled over Burnham-On-Sea on Wednesday night, giving walkers along the town’s seafront an impressive light show.
As shown in this special series of photos, the storm included a varied mixture of fork and sheet lightning which lit up the beach and Esplanade.
The storm – which caused problems for several aeroplanes arriving at nearby Bristol Airport – also brought heavy localised rain to parts of the region.
