Burnham and Highbridge residents urged to join Apex Park litter-pick today

-

Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge residents are being encouraged to get involved with a nationwide campaign from Keep Britain Tidy to clean up local communities today (Wednesday).

A litter clean is to be held at Apex Park on Wednesday 3rd April 2019 when all will be welcome.

The Friends of Apex Park will be hosting their annual litter pick in Apex Park between 10am-12 noon.

There will be support from Sedgemoor Model Boat Club as well as Park View National Autistic Society in Burnham.

The Great British Spring Clean is part of the country’s biggest mass-participation environmental campaign which calls on members of the public to improve the environment on their doorstop.

Join the Great British Spring Clean and become a Litter Hero as the Friends of Apex Park stand together to declare that litter – which degraded the beauty of our environment and threatens to harm wildlife – is not acceptable.

If you would like to take part, please meet at Apex Park (office), Apex car park, Marine Drive, Highbridge on Wednesday 3rd April at 9.45 a.m. For any enquiries, please email marina.turner@sedgemoor.gov.uk or call 01278 435 512.

Keep Britain Tidy’s aim is to inspire around half a million people to join forces – in partnership with community organisations, businesses and councils – to collect and safely dispose of litter from our streets, parks and beaches, recycling as much as possible.

Last year, a 14-strong group of litter pickers collected 20 bags of rubbish that included several unusual items including a bicycle and a 20ft-long aluminium scaffolding pole!
