Met Office issues warning for high winds of up to 65mph in Burnham-On-Sea

-

Burnham-On-Sea is set to be hit by strong winds this weekend, with gusts of up to 65mph.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for the area, saying travel delays and power cuts are even possible.

Gusts of up to 65 mph are possible between 9pm on Saturday until 12 noon on Sunday.

A spokesman says: “Strong northerly winds are expected to develop across southwest England before easing during Sunday. Wind gusts of 50 mph are possible inland and 60-65 mph around coasts.”

Residents have been advised to plan ahead where possible if they are travelling.

Coastal communities could be affected by spray and large waves, the Met Office says.

There is a possibility of wintry conditions in the Burnham area developing this week.
