Over 140 children compete in Burnham-On-Sea’s 9th Annual Sedgemoor Schools Biathlon

Students from over 20 local schools took part in 9th annual biathlon event in Burnham-on-sea this weekend.

140 young athletes competed in the competition at Burnham-On-Sea Swim and Sports Academy on Sunday (1st March), where many outstanding results were achieved.

Children of a wide variety of ages and abilities took part in a selection of events ranging from a 50m swim to a 1000m run, with amazing outcomes in all categories.

In total, an impressive 21 schools were represented.

The overall winners were:

  • The King Alfred School: An Academy – Large Schools Champions
  • Nether Stowey Primary School – Small Schools Champions
  • Sidcot School – Visitor School Champions

The Academy’s Sarah Conklin-Cox told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Huge congratulations go to everyone involved in the 2019 Sedgemoor Schools and Visitors Biathlon Championships. It was an amazing day!”
