Burnham-On-Sea’s Ritz Acoustic Club will welcome the ‘cream of American roots music’ to the town this evening (Thursday).

Laura Cortese and The Dance Cards will play at the club in Burnham’s Victoria Street with doors opening at 8pm.

“We’re very excited to bring a top American touring band to Burnham. It should be a great night,” said the club’s Chairman Rob Brown.

“An all-female trio playing fiddle, cello and Norwegian hardingfele, the band deliver blues, folk, pop and rock’n’roll with a unique modern voice.”

“Both deep and dancey, their music features sophisticated string arrangements, poignant singing and rich vocal harmonies. Having studied violin at Boston’s Berklee College, Cortese has since played at Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Gardens and the Newport Folk Festival.”

Doors open at 8pm and entry costs £4.
