Police issue advice following thefts from sheds and allotments

-

Police have been holding property-marking events at local allotments to help prevent thefts of tools and gardening equipment from sheds.

There have been several thefts of this kind across Sedgemoor in recent weeks.

Local PCSO Jo Farrow has been working with local allotment holders to proactively tackle the issue and reduce the number of incidents.

So far, two successful allotment marking days have been held with lots of positive feedback from green-fingered gardeners and allotment holders.

All of the tools and equipment were marked with the owner’s postcode and initials. Digital photos were also taken and details of the items were recorded on a national database, which means they would be easy to identify and return if they were stolen. Crime prevention advice and security leaflets were also given to plot holders.
