Armed Forces Day to be marked with flag raising ceremonies

-

Armed Forces Day will be marked in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge this Saturday (June 26th) with two flag raising ceremonies.

The Ministry of Defence has invited local communities across the UK to take part in the event, which gives the public an opportunity to show their support for the men and women who make up the armed forces.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge, Michael and Maria Clarke, will be leading the ceremonies at 9.30am on the Highbridge Green in Market Street and then at 10.30am next to the Water Feature in Pier Street, Burnham. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

Sedgemoor District Council held its own hoisting of the Armed Forces Day flag on Monday (June 21st) when Cllr Mike Cresswell, Vice Chairman of Sedgemoor District Council, raised a flag outside its Bridgwater House HQ.
