Hundreds of people visited Burnham-On-Sea’s Birds and Beasts Art Festival over the weekend, with organisers hailing it a big success.

Local arts group Highbridge and Burnham Artists (HaBA) organised an array of visual treats at Apex Park, including a sculpture trail around the park, family workshops, live music, an arts and crafts fair, a photography display, a photographic competition and a drawing competition during the three-day event.

One of the organisers, Sue Hammond-Lovatt, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The festival went very well and was very well attended. The Apex car park was full all weekend with visitors and everyone who came had a wonderful time.”

She added that next year’s event is likely to return to Apex Park.

“Last year’s event was held along the River Brue, but here in Apex we have so much extra space for stalls, displays and a circular walk around the lakes for the sculptures. We would like to return here again next summer.”

Sue thanked several groups who have supported the festival, including Sedgemoor District Council, Burnham and Highbridge Town Council and Haven Holidays. Any groups or individuals who would like to get involved next year should email clivehammondlovatt@yahoo.com.
