Fifty sackfuls of rubbish were called by volunteers and beach wardens during a Spring clean of Burnham-On-Sea and Berrow beaches on Thursday (March 17th).

Ahead of the start of the Easter tourist season, Sedgemoor District Council organised the annual beach clean.

“Following the recent storms and high tides in the area, there were large amounts of rubbish on the beach and Sedgemoor is keen to get it all cleaned up before the holiday season starts in earnest,” the council’s resort manager, Graham Newing, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“We had 14 volunteers – a very good turn-out – assisting six staff who collected 50 bags of rubbish.”

Volunteers gathered at Berrow Beach car park and Maddock’s Slade in Burnham to take part.
