Travellers pitch up in front of Berrow Church as legal action begins

-

A large group of travellers pitched up on land in front of Berrow Church on Thursday (September 27th).

The convoy of eight caravans and vehicles arrived on the field in front of St Mary’s Church, as pictured here.

Formal action to get the group removed has already started by the owner of the land, Berrow and Burnham Golf Club.

In July, a group of travellers pitched up on Golf Club land next to the same site near Berrow Church, as we reported here.

Two years ago, a large group of travellers set up camp on Berrow Green over the summer, and the Parish Council built a bund around the green to prevent them gaining access.

Burnham-On-Sea’s MP James Heappey is working on a change to the law to prevent travellers illegally trespassing on land, as we reported here.
