170 classic cars taking part in vintage vehicle run today

-

Over 170 classic cars will be taking part in a fundraising vintage vehicle run through the Burnham-On-Sea area today (Sunday, April 22nd).

The Brimar Vintage and Classic Car Run will start at Sanders Garden World in Brent Knoll and is being held to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).

The vehicles will be on show in the car park from 10am until 11.45am before they set off in mass for Weston.

Dolly El-Mahdi, Deputy Manager of the garden centre, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are delighted that the Brimar Vintage & Classic Car Run will be coming to the garden centre.”

“We hope as many people as possible attend to see the variety of cars on display and help raise money for a very worthy cause.”

After the display of cars, the event will be started by Michelle Michael, co-owner of Weston Pier, at 11.45am.

The vehicles will travel to Weston, where they will be displayed on The Lawns from 12.30pm until 4pm.

Organisers Mary Curtis and her husband Brian, from Street, say this year’s event is the bigger than ever.

Mary said: “Last year the car display raised £4,442.36 for CHSW. The event is much larger this year and we hope to raise even more money for the charity.”

“We have more than 170 classic and vintage cars taking part in the run. Every penny from the event will go towards CHSW, a wonderful charity.”
