Burnham and Highbridge runners complete London Marathon for charity

-

Fundraising runners in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge have raised thousands of pounds for good causes by completing the London Marathon.

Emma Wood and Linda Matthews from Highbridge Ladies Running Club, above, completed the famous 26.2 mile route for Towards Tomorrow Together, and have raised over £1,200.

The charity helps provide support, information and resources for families affected by the death of a baby at any time during pregnancy or infancy.

“It was our first time running the London Marathon and it was a really super experience,” Emma told Burnham-On-Sea.com. “We traveled up with four ladies who were at different points along the route for us along with Linda’s children.”

Steve Wilcox, who is a member of Burnham Harriers Running Club, along with fellow runner Sue Nicholls, also did well, saying: “I finished in 4:01:51. There was an amazing atmosphere all the way round. From the first mile to the last, the crowd lined the route. It was a day I’ll never forget. I am nearly at £2,000 for Cancer Research, with a kind £340 donation from Brent Knoll School.”

Freddie Horwood, running for The Grand Appeal – The Bristol Childrens Hospital Charity, also completed the London Marathon in a time of 4.53.27 and has raised over £1,300 on his JustGiving page. He says it was an amazing experience.
