Burnham-On-Sea Coastguards were called out on Wednesday afternoon (June 17th) to search for a missing person.

Crews were called out just after 1pm to assist Weston Coastguards with a search of the coastline in Weston-super-Mare.

A spokesman said: “The Weston Coastguard Officer in Charge formulated a search plan of the foreshore. The Weston team headed off to their search locations while our team covered from the Commodore Pub car park and headed back south towards Birnbeck Pier.”

“This is is very rocky and uneven terrain so searching and watching every step takes great care and concentration to avoid injury.”

“As we progressed along the foreshore we had further contact from the Weston OIC who told us that the person had been located by family members and was deemed to be found.”

“With this news, we headed back to our vehicle and met back up with the Weston team near Birnbeck pier for a quick debrief and a catch-up.”
