Burnham fire crews called to property fire in Rooksbridge

Fire crews from Burnham-On-Sea, Cheddar and Bridgwater were sent to reports of a property fire in Rooksbridge on Friday morning (May 3rd).

Firefighters were called at 9.53am to Rookery Close, Rooksbridge where a property was heavily smoke-logged.

“Crews donned two breathing apparatus sets, and used a hose reel jet to tackle the fire. The fire was located on the ground floor and was believed to be in the kitchen area,” said a spokesperson.

“Crews isolated the utility supplies to the premises and sent another two crews member inside the property wearing breathing apparatus sets to assist with extinguishing the fire.”

“Once the fire was extinguished, crews used a positive pressure fan to ventilate the property.”

“The incident caused 20% fire damage to the kitchen/diner and 100% smoke damage to the rest of the property. The cause of the fire was accidental.”
