Burnham-On-Sea Moose Lodge has recognised the long service of several of its senior members.
At the group’s latest lodge gathering, President Rita Harris presented 40 year membership certificates to both Khalil and Julia Kattana.
“Over the years they had taken on various supportive roles within the order with Khalil being a past National President, plus presently President of Moose Legion 8,” says Rita.
“Moose legions exist as the ‘Second degree of service’ to support Moose International’s internal welfare service.”
“Next in line was Khalil, who on behalf of Legion 8, was presented with a certificate for the largest amount of money donated to Moose welfare from the various Moose Legions, the award coming from the recent Moose International National Conference.”
“Last, but not least, past President of Burnham Moose Ladies’ circle, Sandra Nicholson, was presented with a rose bowl trophy for her Ladies circle role in national fundraising. Since the recent closure of Burnham Moose Ladies Circle, Sandra continues as lodge catering manager.”
Although Moose International has traditionally been a fraternal organization based on family values, the organization has now gone through massive changes, and changed to ‘One Moose’, where men and ladies are of equal status, with the same values.
It raises money for charities, and provides support to each other. Membership of Moose is open to anyone of 21 years or over. Details are available from Terry Cornelius on 01278 784645 or Chris and Rita Harris on 01278 760486.
