A talented up-and-coming young Burnham-On-Sea singer has secured her first recording contract.

Casey Slocombe, 10, sang her way through two 30-minute sets at Burnham’s Lighthouse pub last week during their latest karaoke evening when she learned of the good news.

Casey — who has a great voice and oozes self-confidence when she has a mic in her hand — is already appearing in the show ‘Oliver’ at the McMillan Theatre in Bridgwater this month.

And she was recently spotted by South-West Music Productions, whose director, Martin Payne, has delivered her a double dose of good news.

He has invited her to appear in a Gloucester Christmas music special, supporting an Elvis tribute act, and two other children who appeared on ITV’s The Voice.

And Martin also handed Casey an envelope to open and read out at the pub’s event, when she discovered that she’ll soon be off to a recording studio in Manchester to record three songs on a CD and to make a music video.

Mum Kelly Slocombe said that Casey is “really excited” by the news and is looking forward to appearing in the theatre show and completing the recordings over the summer.
