Burnham-On-Sea Women’s Institute is marking the 100th anniversary of the national organisation with a special display at the town’s library.

The ladies have compiled a special display in the front window showing some of the many campaigns that the W.I. have led over the past 100 years.

The group’s Brenda Adams told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The campaigns we have highlighted are SOS Honeybees, Mission Milk, Keep Britain Tidy, Decline of our High Streets and Town Centres, Love Your Libraries and Employ More Midwives.”

“Naturally, there is also a cake on display too! The display will be in the main window of Burnham Library for the whole of June.”

There are two W.I. groups in Burnham-On-Sea – the afternoon group meets every fourth Tuesday at 2pm in the Community Centre (next meeting is on 23rd June), and the evening group meets on the 1st Tuesday at 7pm at the Tennis Club. For more information please contact Brenda on 01278 781771.
