Members of a slimming club in Burnham-On-Sea have this week presented a weighty donation to a local cancer charity.
Members of the Slimming World group who meet each Thursday at Burnham Infants School have collected two thousand five penny pieces over the course of a year, amounting to £100.
The group’s co-ordinator, Hayley Moore, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Our group’s members have been dropping five pence pieces in several collecting pots for almost a year now and are delighted to hand over the sum to Somerset Breakthrough Breast Cancer.”
She added: “One of our members was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year, so this is a special cause for us.”
