Candle-lit protest over climate change to be held in Burnham-On-Sea

-

A candle-lit protest will be held in Burnham-On-Sea today (Saturday) to campaign for a stronger global climate treaty.

Highbridge resident Ben Metcalfe, pictured, is organising the gathering on Burnham seafront.

He told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The aim is to hold a candle-lit vigil to remind everyone exactly what a few feet of sea-level rise would mean for the Somerset Levels, and add our voices to the pressure on Copenhagen.”

“The event will be simple, short and dignified – and ours is one of thousands taking place all across the world to demand a strong global climate treaty.”

The candle-lit vigil will be held at 5.30pm at the top of the jetty and Ben is keen for as many people as possible to join him. Full details are available online here.
