Burnham bed and breakfast to be turned into residential care home

-

A Burnham-On-Sea bed and breakfast is set to be turned into a new residential care home following approval by council planners this week.

Chatsworth Lodge in Berrow Road will be transformed into the new facilities after Sedgemoor District Council approved the application for a change of use from hotel (use class C1) to residential institution (use class C2).

The new care home will be run by TRACS Limited, a specialist provider of care and rehabilitation with over 25 years experience. The accommodation will serve nine vulnerable adult service users aged between 18 and 65.

“The proposed use of the building to a residential institution will not result in any
visual impact on the character and appearance of the street scene and will be
compatible with existing residential uses in the immediate locality,” said the council’s Claire Pearce.

The bed and breakfast remains open and is currently taking forward bookings.
