Burnham-On-Sea is to host a Cider Festival later this month when two days of music and great local brews will be offered.

The festival will take place on Saturday 28th, coinciding with the town’s Food and Drink Festival, and Sunday 29th September.

Following the success of the Burnham Beer festival in May, the event will again be held at The Ritz in Victoria Street.

The Burnham Cider Festival will feature a fabulous range of mainly local ciders, including such gems as Westcroft’s Janets Jungle Juice, Mill Whites’ Rum Cask, Weston’s Old Rosie and Black Dragon from over the border in Wales. A full list will be available nearer the event.

The Ritz Travers Suite will be the hub of the festival, although visitors are welcome to use all of the Ritz bars and there will be some great live music on stage during the weekend.

The Mangledwurzels will headline the Saturday night stage with their trademark Wurzels-flavourer cider-fuelled Scrumpy and Western music. Tickets for the Mangledwurzels are selling fast from the Ritz at only £5 (£3 Ritz members).

On Sunday afternoon local band Rustique will be on stage with a great mix of music, often from the Irish tradition and with influences from Shanties, Cajun, Bluegrass and even Skiffle within their Repartee. Admission is free all weekend except for the Mangledwurzels on Saturday night and everyone is welcome! More information can be obtained by calling 785365 or at www.ritzclubburnham.co.uk
