Burnham-On-Sea’s Royal Clarence Hotel opened a new courtyard on Saturday (July 12th) following a £30,000 development.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to open the new area at the rear of the seafront building.

Two regulars, Val Collins and Annie James, joined hotel owner Paul Chatwin in carrying out the champagne-toasted ceremony, pictured here.

Paul told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The redevelopment has taken just three weeks to complete and sees a total transformation of the courtyard, more than tripling the public space available. Our customers have been extremely patient during the works and many have already commented on how much better it is.”

“2015 sees even more investment being made when it is hoped that the front patio area can be transformed into a more pleasant outdoor area for locals and holidaymakers to enjoy.”

He added that the hotel thanks all of their customers for the continued support they have shown in the last 15 months since it changed ownership.

He added that the hotel has enjoyed a positive first 15 months with occupancy rates in the high 80% year-round and bar revenue increasing 800% since taking over from the previous owner.
