Members of Burnham-On-Sea’s Hillview Carnival Club have been presented with the County Cup following wins at every one of the seven carnivals on the circuit last month.
The club’s cart, called ‘Sweet Dreams’, won their category after a clean sweep of seven wins at seven carnivals.
The team was formally presented with the coveted trophy during the county presentation night in Brean on Saturday night (December 2nd).
Hillview Chair Julia Rosser told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were so proud to collect the County Cup on Saturday night for winning the Juvenile class for the first time in 9 years!”
“It made it even more special to achieve this in our 50th anniversary year and we were joined on the stage by Mary Nicholson who founded the club. She was joined by her great-granddaughter Imogen who is in her 2nd year of performing on our cart.”
“Huge congratulations to all of the clubs who were recognised on Saturday and a special thank you to Marina Sydenham Juvenile Carnival Club who were so complimentary about us in their acceptance speech.”
“It was a fantastic night made extra special by so many of our kids being there to celebrate our achievement.”
“It’s been a tough year financially, so we will be hard at work helping Santa with his charity collections from Monday 4th December with our street collections with which we again support the Children’s Hospice South West.”
“Also he will be appearing at weekends with his sleigh and elves collecting at Sanders Garden World in Brent Knoll on 9 and 10 Dec, Asda Highbridge on 16 and 17, plus Tesco Burnham on 23 and 24.”
“We are hugely grateful again to all of you who support us – without you we couldn’t put on the show we do each year.”
“Also we thank all of the town and carnival committees for organising these fantastic events every year.”
