A new murder mystery novel set in Burnham-On-Sea has been published this month.

Local author Damien Boyd has unveiled his second book, called Head In The Sand, as part of a series of thrillers set in the Burnham area.

He explains that the book has a gruesome theme: “The discovery of a severed head in a bunker on Burnham and Berrow golf course triggers a frantic race to find a serial killer that brings Burnham-On-Sea to a standstill.”

“When the connection is made with a series of unsolved murders over thirty years before, Detective Inspector Nick Dixon finds himself chasing ghosts from the past in a race against time that takes him the length and breadth of the country.”

“The brutal killing of an elderly man in a flat on Burnham seafront raises the stakes and, as he closes in, Dixon begins to question whether he is chasing one serial killer or two.”

Damien says the book is a follow-up to his first novel, As The Crow Flies, which we recently featured here, and it moves at the same fast pace.

“Many people have been kind enough to say they enjoyed As The Crow Flies and I hope Head In The Sand is as well received!” he told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“It made for a very enjoyable day spent in and around Berrow Church and the golf course on a research trip and I hope everyone enjoys reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.”

The book is available from GW Hurleys in Burnham or online from Amazon here.
