Burnham-On-Sea theatre hosts curling tournament in Brian’s memory

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s Princess Theatre has hosted a special indoor curling tournament in memory of a popular theatre member.

Brian Saunders was a familiar face to visitors of the Burnham venue until he passed away last August. He founded the Friends of the Princess group and was also instrumental in driving the theatre revamp in 1995.

“The inaugural Brian Saunders Trophy event has been held over the past week to remember him and celebrate all he did for The Princess,” Sam Nicol, theatre manager, told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

The final saw Mike Branch and Joe Phillips battling it our for top honours, with Mike being declared the winner after a close match. He is pictured below with the theatre’s John Holmes.

Anyone interested in playing indoor curling can come along to The Princess on a Thursday from 11am to 1pm and join in. All abilities are welcome – it is a very accessible sport. Each session costs £2.
