Police divers carried out an underwater search of a river near Burnham-On-Sea on Friday (January 21st) in a hunt for dumped stolen property.

Divers from Avon and Somerset Constabulary’s Underwater Search Unit carried out a day-long search of the Huntspill River at West Huntspill, as pictured here.

Police spokesman Wayne Baker confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Our Underwater Search Unit has been carrying out a search of the river for stolen property that may have discarded during the past year.”

He declined to say whether any valuables had been found, but Burnham-On-Sea.com’s photographer saw several items being retrieved on Friday afternoon.
