Almost 50 youngsters attended the launch of Burnham-On-Sea’s long-awaited Dreamscheme on Tuesday (February 22nd).

The new organisation was officially opened by Burnham’s MP, Tessa Munt, during a celebration at the town’s BAY Centre in Cassis Close.

At the launch, the young people were able to identify the community-based projects they would like to complete, such as litter picks, and also choose the rewards they will receive, typically fun days out.

Burnham Lions gave the new group a generous donation of £500 during Tuesday’s launch.

Dreamscheme leader John Alexander told Burnham-On-Sea.com he was delighted with how the day had gone, adding: “I would like to thank Tessa Munt for coming along and supporting the initiative and all the Dreamscheme volunteers for making the day a resounding success.”

“Finally, the biggest thank you goes to the young people for coming along in the first place. Without them, there would be no Dreamscheme.”

The next meeting of the Dreamscheme will be during the Easter school holidays, details of which will follow on Burnham-On-Sea.com nearer the time.
