Wildlife carers rescue family of ducklings from Burnham-On-Sea garden

-

A family of ducklings has been rescued from a garden in Burnham-On-Sea by a team of wildife carers from Secret World Wildlife Rescue Centre.

A mother mallard duck hatched out her young brood in an enclosed garden at a home in Burnham-On-Sea, but with no natural water source nearby they were effectively stranded.

“Unfortunately the garden was unsuitable for them as there was no nearby water source and no possible exit, so they were collected by Secret World Wildlife Rescue,” says Animal Carer Marie Denston.

“The ducklings were newly hatched when Secret World’s volunteer response driver Cindy Taylor arrived to collect – and one even hatched in front of her.”

“Cindy brought the family, including the mother, to the charity’s centre in East Huntspill.”

After spending the night at Secret World, Site Officer Phil Parker and Marie released them in a better location.

The duck and her young family happily swam off together, as pictured here, to start their new life togeher in the great outdoors.
