A Burnham-On-Sea cake artist has won a gold award at a prestigious baking competition.

Dusica Roberts, who runs Burnham-On-Sea’s DusiCake Boutique, entered the Spring Cake International 2017 show this week held at Birmingham’s NEC.

The event is the largest cake decorating competition in the world and Dusica is understandably delighted to win a gold award, putting her among the top cake decorators in the UK.

Speaking to Burnham-On-Sea.com, she said: “I was pretty emotional when I found out – I’m so pleased to have received a gold award after all the hard work and sleepless nights in creating the cake.”

“The cake took me around 50 hours to make, with the inside actually made from a Rice Crispy treat recipe so it’s able to be preserved as a display cake, although everything is edible.”
