Hundreds of people took part in a day of traditional festivities at the annual East Brent Harvest Home on Friday (August 28th).

Over 400 people filled the event’s show tent to tuck into a hearty meal and enjoy a day of entertainment, which included Burtle Silver Band, live music acts and fairground rides.

The event began with a church service on Friday morning before the traditional meal was formally opened. Among those enjoying the day was Burnham’s former MP Tessa Munt, pictured above.

The historic event dates back to 1857 and was originally held to celebrate the end of the harvest as an organised event for all farmers and farm workers.

East Brent’s event is the longest-running harvest home in the country with breaks only during the world wars and in 2001 because of the foot and mouth outbreak.
