Eight previous Burnham and Highbridge Mayors – and the existing one – gathered together on Monday night (April 8th) to wish outgoing Town Clerk Eileen Shaw well as she formally retired from her role.

Eileen was presented with flowers by town councillors during a special gathering, attended by over 40 people, at Burnham’s Princess Theatre to thank her for her 14 years of work.

Current Mayor Ken Smout and former councillor Mike Murphy – who was Mayor when Eileen took on the role – presented her with a glass vase on behalf of the council to mark the occasion.

Eileen told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “There have been plenty of highs and lows over the years, but I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as Town Clerk and thank everyone for their support.”
