Burnham-On-Sea fire crews rushed to Brean Down on Friday morning (February 20th) after a walker reported seeing large plumes of black smoke on the rocky outcrop.
Fire spokesman Paul Slavin told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Two fire engines from Burnham were sent to Brean Down at 11.15am to investigate.”
“Fortunately, the smoke was caused by controlled burning being carried out on the Down by the National Trust. No action was needed, and this was a false alarm with good intent.”
