Burnham fire crews were called to tackle a chimney blaze in Highbridge on Tuesday (February 1st).

Two fire engines were called to a property on the A38 at 1.08pm after a resident raised the alarm.

Fire spokeswoman Suzie Izzard told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Crews were called to a chimney fire, which caused smoke and fire damage in the roof space.”

“The fire was extinguished from the hearth by fire crews who used breathing apparatus due to the smoke.”

The incident was not fully brought under control until 2.17pm, when the crews returned to their station.
