Crews were called to tackle a ‘deliberate’ fire at a Highbridge play park last night (Friday).

Firefighters from Burnham were called to recently revamped play area near Market Street at 8.20pm.

“The fire service received a call reporting a fire under some new play equipment,” said a spokesman.

“A fire appliance from Burnham was mobilised and they found the fire was deliberate ignition. Firefighters extinguished the fire and left the scene safe.” visited the play park on Saturday morning behind the St John Ambulance building and confirmed there was no damage to the play equipment.
