Crews were called to tackle a ‘deliberate’ fire at a Highbridge play park last night (Friday).

Firefighters from Burnham were called to recently revamped play area near Market Street at 8.20pm.

“The fire service received a call reporting a fire under some new play equipment,” said a spokesman.

“A fire appliance from Burnham was mobilised and they found the fire was deliberate ignition. Firefighters extinguished the fire and left the scene safe.”

Burnham-On-Sea.com visited the play park on Saturday morning behind the St John Ambulance building and confirmed there was no damage to the play equipment.
