A family fishing fun day encouraged dozens of young people to try angling for the first time at Highbridge’s Apex Wildlife Park on Saturday (August 16th).

The free event provided free taster lessons led by qualified angling coaches alongside other angling themed games, stalls and activities.

Organiser Dean Asplin told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The event was a great success with lots of interest shown by people of all ages.”

“We had a good turnout and great support from the partner agencies. We hope to make this an annual event to encourage more people into trying fishing.”

The event was supported by The Angling Trust, Get Hooked On Fishing, Environment Agency, Age UK, Somerset Active Sports Partnership, South West Fishing for Life, Highbridge and Burnham Angling Club and Bitterwell Lakes.
