Fundraising for life-saving defibrillator boosted by Burnham-On-Sea Lions Club

-

Burnham-On-Sea Lions Club has presented Brent Knoll’s Sanders Garden Centre with a donation towards the purchase of a life-saving defibrillator.

At the club’s annual Presidents handover lunch, Carly Gray from Sanders Garden Centre received a cheque from Burnham Lions’ outgoing President, Doug Plume, as pictured here.

The outgoing President handed over the reins to the new President, Phil Cooke, during the event.

“We presented a cheque for £250 to Sanders to help them in their fundraising efforts to buy a new defibrillator unit at the centre,” Phil told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The staff have been fundraising at the centre for some weeks and have raised in excess of £650 towards the total of £1,300 that’s needed.”

He added: “As incoming President, I am aiming to get the message out what the Lions do to raise funds for local charities and to promote interest to encourage new members to join us.”

“The Lions are involved in many events in the town, including the formation of the Diabetes support group, ensuring Santa appears at the Christmas lights switch on, marshalling at many events in the town, including the Apex parkrun every week, serving drinks at the Weston Lions Beer Festival and helping some of the many other groups in the town including the Bay Centre and In Charley’s Memory.”
